Pont du Gard

Our Heritage ...
The pont du gard and its stone

The Pont du Gard is part of the famous Roman aqueduct remains, which was built, around 50 AD.

The water was drawn from the spring of Eure in Uzès and poured in Nîmes.
The roman aqueduct was 50km long. The Pont du Gard is the major component of the aqueduct.
The material used for the construction of the Pont du Gard comes from two quarries situated on the left bank of the Gardon river. It is still possible to
see these quarries by following the Path of the Pont du Gard stone.
